Over the past few months the students have been learning about electricity. This is a very exciting topic for the students because electricity means a lot of activities and experiments! We learned how to light up a lightbulb only using a battery, lightbulb and two wires and that it makes a complete circuit which the students picked up very quickly. We also learned what the different types of circuits are like parallel circuits and series circuits. Using snap circuits they constructed different types of circuits and powered different types of resistors like light bulbs, fans, and music boxes. Afterwards they were able to draw the circuits using the correct symbols.
Another topic we talked about was the different types of conductors there are in a circuit, or what else can be used instead of a wire in a circuit? The students used all sorts of different materials like forks, bobby pins, pens, and tin foil. We even learned how to write and communicate in Morse code using light bulbs. In the end the students learned about all the different aspects of circuits and how to make their own.
