This math class focused of recognizing specific polygons. We started out learning that the number of sides and vertices a polygon has is what determines the polygon’s name. We also went over what congruent and symmetrical were and examples were shown as visual aids. Then we talked about parallel lines, parallel lines never cross so we used our arms to mimic parallel lines. The students were then introduced to the six different types of common triangles which are; isosceles, scalene, obtuse, acute, right, and equilateral. In the process we distinguished the difference between right, acute, and obtuse angles and practiced these skills on geo boards. Students were challenged to make a shape with specific criteria on their boards. They also used their power polygons to classify the different types of triangles.
