Another mystery guest came to The New School’s government class last week. This time, we invited Paco Valle, a manager from the Syracuse VA Medical Center. Two students had previously shared articles at school about the shameful medical treatment of vets (or lack thereof.) Paco came to answer their many questions, and also shared other interesting facts about life in the military and the needs of veterans. He articulated how the biggest need today is for more mental health providers to be hired to care for veterans suffering from the challenges of war and combat. We are indeed grateful that so many members of the Syracuse community are willing to donate their time and expertise to come and speak with our students.
