This year the fifth and seventh grade group worked together in their social studies class to investigate the amendments. The students worked with their student teacher, Amelia, and looked deeper into the constitution and the amendments that were added. Students were able to individually identify initial issues that were in the constitution, and work with their peers to learn about amendments that were made to help give people more rights. Some of the amendments that the students learned about were the reconstruction amendments and 19th amendment. Throughout the weeks the students worked on this unit they read articles, observed pictures, had group discussions and reflected on the things that they learned each class. The students led the class through discussion and thoughtful questions about the content that was being presented to them. The students worked very hard throughout this unit and were able to learn more about the history of the United States.
