This year we were very fortunate to get a donation of a program called ZOO TO YOU which brings zoo animals and personnel to our school every other month for the year. As a team we began to think about how to make the most of these experiences. We decided to build off of these visits with a class for our youngest students where they will have the opportunity to learn about classification of animals.
The first ZOO TO YOU visit in October introduced Invertebrates. Children learned about Invertebrate adaptations and were able to see up close animalssuch as a tarantula, whip scorpion, and Madagascar hissing cockroach.
In December the children will learn about reptile coverings and movement and we will welcome to our school an Eastern box turtle, gecko, and chuckwalla
