Some of our 2nd and 3rd graders read Loius Braille, The Boy Who Invented Books for the Blind by Margaret Davidson. While reading and learning about the life of Louis Braille, students were answering comprehension questions, making predictions, and using text evidence to make inferences. Students really enjoyed feeling braille, “reading” braille words, and using braille cells to write their names. They have noticed places where braille is used in public like at the library and on bathroom signs.
